In the run-up to the coming HOMI Fashion&Jewels, scheduled for 19 to 22 September at Fiera Milano, the observatory of the exhibition centre and cultural hub for fashion accessories, bijoux and trendy jewellery has identified the macro-trends for Summer 2020. The study was run in collaboration with Milan Polytechnic's applied research group, POLI.design, always on the lookout for new trends and ready to forecast new consumer scenarios for brands and artisans. The inspiration for this summer's styles is the culture of the Mediterranean basin, with its inestimable heritage of colours, designs and know-how. This manifesto is represented by brands like Amlè, with their bijoux inspired by the southern Italian coastline and its landscapes, By Simon with their I Love Sicily collection, and Greek designer Antonia Karra with a collection of shellearrings which pay homage to Mikonos. Greece is also the home of the creations of Alexandra Tsoukala by AIBIJOUX, with their elegant play of shapes, while Uruguay's Sole Rodriguez proposes a high impact mix of colours and contrasting fabrics, including wool, cashmere, silk and embroidered linen in their accessories lineup. Materials are also the focus of PIG’OH, with their contemporary oversize jewellery, while apparel flaunts strong colours and a touch of irony with tees from Identity and Au Petit Bonheur.
