Spain as a fundamental trading partner for the Italian Fashion&Bijoux market, with a current turnover of 40 million euros which, according to forecasts, is destined to grow.
Spain and Italy have long exploited their deep affinities, which have allowed them to create strong and lasting cultural, social and above all economic ties.
In fact, economic relations between Italy and its Iberian cousins have never been as good as they are today and, despite the pandemic crisis, they have never ceased to represent fundamental markets, export outlets and investment destinations for one another.
But beyond the historical, cultural and geographic reasons that may motivate the closeness between the two countries, there are other variables to consider to explore their market affinities. First and foremost, Spain is the tenth-largest trading partner of the Italian Fashion&Bijoux market, with a current turnover of 40 million euros which, according to forecasts, is destined to grow: in the scenario for the next three years, in fact, Italian imports from Spain are expected to increase by 6.3%.
The Italian market in this sector is worth about 3 billion euros, considering costume jewellery and fashion accessories, and of these, Italy imports about 1 billion 400 million euros' worth. Numbers that indicate the strength of interest in international products among Italian consumers, and above all in products that reflect a Mediterranean taste and approach.
It is evident how Italy has managed to obtain important strategic positions in the Spanish economy in recent years and how, as far as the segment referring to the HOMI Fashion&Jewels Exhibition is concerned, the offer from Spain is becoming increasingly consolidated, in terms of both volume and content.
A topic that is also and above all valid today, when the economic trend indicates a fall in consumption but not a total stop, particularly bearing in mind the typical Italian consumer, who while they might have changed how they buy, have not stopped buying.
Precisely because of this unstoppable trend, the invitation is to continue to cultivate this privileged axis between Italy and Spain that an event like HOMI Fashion&Jewels Exhibition can encourage by becoming a privileged showcase of an international vision - thanks to the presence of companies from the most diverse countries - and an opportunity also from a strategic point of view, given it is staged around the same time as other trade fairs in the world of fashion.
Lastly, the importance of the affinities between the two markets was also underlined by a recent Webinar organised for HOMI Fashion&Jewels Exhibition by EXTENDA (an Andalucían government agency, which supports and promotes the internationalisation of Andalusian companies in the world) entitled "Jewellery and Fashion Accessories: S/S 2021 trends and focus on the Mediterranean area" .
In addition to an overview of the Italian and Spanish markets, the meeting content included an in-depth analysis of the fashion trends for this summer season, and interesting case histories of leading companies in the sector.
