An exclusive perspective and, at the same time, an extraordinary format that, season after season, renews its powerful vision to view the future through the eyes of today. Because Design Directions, the multimedia space created by Milano Fashion&Jewels in collaboration with Poli.Design, is this and much more besides. It is an unmissable opportunity and a guarantee for companies and creatives who can explore the coordinates of tomorrow's design, engaging them with their creativity to stay competitive in the market and anticipate consumers' desires. It is an immersive experience, also refreshed for the edition scheduled from February 22 to 25, where shapes and materials come together in a diorama of ideas, insights, and reflections that set the direction for fashion jewellery and accessory design over the next two years. The future begins in the present, driven by two key trends that, when properly explored, will unlock the aesthetics of tomorrow.
Dreams are not desires but reality, the protagonist of the first macrotrend, Dreampact, poised between two dimensions that are reflected in each other, the dreamlike and the more terrestrial. There is a continuous contamination at the base of the totalising spaces that explore nature with futuristic technologies. These evoke environments bordering on the surreal, between interplays of light and shadow, distorted and liquid perceptions, in an broadening of perceptions that arises from the landscape and opens up to alternative perspectives. Nature + artifice = a possible reality. But who is to say that it’s not the other side of the truth? To find out, we chase the fluctuations of natural elements and their evolution into dreamlike forms that do not neglect matter but rather enrich it with infinite possibilities. Visual illusions are explored, using light and shadow to amplify psychedelic effects and reinterpret dimensions with tricks of perspective and a new outlook on everyday life. The body is brought to the fore and its details are exasperated, celebrating a far from conventional physicality that invites an detailed reflection on the perception of the self and of one's identity. The sirens of the future are indulged by interweaving technology and otherworldly architecture, in balance between urban utopia and living spaces.
Tactile passion and artisan soul: a heritage with the scent of the past ready to wrap what will be with the strength of its human authenticity in an upward trajectory with its heart in Artisoul. Its credo is a manifesto of handmade sensitivity, reflecting a tactile taste and elevating it to unexplored levels. The story of the future unfolds in chapters that find their true meaning in the human, natural and sometimes archaeological matrix, intensifying the raw touch and celebrating recognisable, identity-defining processes. The key drivers of this defining trend are the traces left by man as matter, with techniques used as suggestions in a temporal balance, offering a fascinating poetics full of possibilities for exploration. Little does it matter whether they are techniques capable of recalling traditions that highlight manual craftsmanship, such as drapery and knitting stitches, or the timeless memory of ancient finds, rich with profound symbolism that exudes wonder. What matters is not losing the magic. This includes the magic hidden by an industrial revolution that celebrates design and movement, combining the work of man and that of machines with an element of surprise that destabilises and conquers. The same element that, through the subtle process of assembly and fragmentation, becomes the common thread of seemingly irrational compositions, elevating creativity to its highest form and showcasing its power, which is never too conventional.
